In life we have moments, just like a year is filled with hours. Left on its own, an hour may not be much significant. And left on its own moments may also be not much significant unless one thing happens. And that is we choose to give it a meaning, where we choose to realize something and create something anew. It maybe a new creation altogether, or as in most cases understanding something in a completely new perspective. And it’s those moments where we choose to realize, what we call as a moment of epiphany, a sudden great revelation. And it is one such event, with reference to connecting with the source, and also letting go and clearing off a lot of drama and suffering that I want to share over here.
Some background info.
Hi, I am Dr. Maharaja SivaSubramanian N. Blogger, Coach, Consultant, Speaker, Trainer. And also a human being who has had experiences and exposure of my own share of drama and suffering and feelings of disconnectedness. I have experienced it both personally and professionally.
I have experienced it both personally as in my own life, (my dramas and sufferings, and of those with whom I have had personal, professional, social relationship with, and also felt disconnected both from my own true self and also with others).
And also, I have experienced it professionally as in others life where I had both the responsibility and privilege to help them as their coach or consultant and help them navigate through their own disconnectedness, dramas, and sufferings.
And yes, here’s a disclaimer too. This is my moment of epiphany, my moment of understanding and realizing the depth in something at a bigger level. A part of my own experience, education and all the perspectives coming from there. And very much subjective to changes which otherwise I would label as evolution as I evolve. So, take it for that, another perspective and another way of looking at life. If you feel it can be empowering and you are ready to take responsibility for the consequences, then give it a try. And again, absolutely not a substitute for professional help.
So, what is it that has got to do with the source?
Yes, the source is important. And a lot has got to do with the source. People try to connect with the source, as in mostly during one of the two times. And that has got to do mostly with two industries. One, when they look at connecting for making their life better. Read in the entire basis for education, training, coaching, personal development, spiritual development, self-improvement industry. Second, when they have got enmeshed into that level of drama or suffering that they just feel disconnected from happiness and that has reached a level of unbearable pain (or complaining level of pain at the least). Read in the therapy, health, cure, healing, industry. And then there are people in the middle who may show a level of curiosity in-between.
The choices of drama and suffering.
So, in this post, I will discuss with reference to all the drama and suffering. Yes, I have given the subtitle of drama and suffering. And I am saying it as a choice as in the drama and suffering we choose. For if a person wants to subjugate themselves to, there are a lot of dramas and sufferings one can undergo. However, there are the ones which a person voluntarily chooses. One as a vehicle for inspired growth and another involuntarily as a vehicle for painful growth.
What? Growth through drama and suffering?
Let me share my own example. I have spent days without taking care much of myself or my food habits, etc. Why? Because I was working on a very important project. I had to sacrifice few things to achieve the big thing. And learn to embrace all the drama and suffering associated with the same. In such a case, if I am going through a drama, that’s an inspired growth choice. And I embraced them with a smile. You too have had such drama and suffering right?
And then there is the another part. The one with dramas and suffering pushed on us by others, by our circumstances, those from which we will rather choose to run away from. And those are the ones which give us pain, and suffering which we don’t want. And still, when we make it through them, we still have growth, however, painful growth. You had those too right? Just count how many such problems and challenges that life has thrown upon to you that you have successfully overcome?
Either way, you have really come a long way. Appreciate yourself for that.
Moving on further.
Each of these dramas and sufferings whether one of inspiration or the other of conspiration (if you smell conspiracy happening to bring you down) is ultimately that. Drama and suffering. And they do come in from a definite source. Some which you can understand and some which you may be unaware for now. Either way, there is always a source. (Psst…psst…. if some reports have to be believed, 99% of the time, the source is something or someone else and not you).
Let me break it down.
Did I come up intuitively with the thought that I have to sacrifice on a lot of things to achieve my goals? Nope. Maybe in the past, I believed that as a fact, (or if I have to paraphrase a teaching from Nisargadatta Maharaj as I came across, the fraud of spacetime illusion). However, now I can attribute it to somewhere coming from my education, the social culture I was exposed to, the value systems as taught to me, or learned by me from my elders, teachers, etc when I was small. If not one or the other, it can always be traced back to a source. The moment that awareness happens, and a small work after the awareness occur, all the unnecessary drama and suffering are cleared off.
How does the small work happen? Begin with connecting with the source.
I can connect with the source, (and so can you) and say to it, I acknowledge and appreciate what you have given me. It’s a perspective, a tool, a way of looking or living life. As long it serves me and others for the highest good, I will utilize it as a borrowed learning, and the moment it no longer serves the purpose and creates unnecessary drama and suffering, I understand I can choose to let it go in this form and opt for something better. That way, I can always choose myself and my joy and also share it with others for the highest good of all.
And this is the similar work which happens in lots of therapy work and techniques from various schools of therapy, coaching, healing, spirituality, etc.
Some note from the past.
And that way truly, as envisioned by many including Dr. Buckminster Fuller, we can make the whole of life and world work for 100% of humanity and it can always be a winning scenario for all involved. Or as the tile of James Altucher’s book suggests, “Choose Yourself”. Or as highlighted brilliantly by Sarah Ann Negus (a modern day shaman), (others also have shared it with me, though her presentation was a recent and impactful one), we can reclaim great gifts from our inner children, shadows, and higher self. And as was created and shared as a challenge by Ms. Tanya Tinner (change catalyst) (the finding joy five-day challenge), you can just choose to find joy within yourself and have the power to get it, keep it and share it too.
Actually, I have been working with both of them in the past two weeks through their challenges and group work and it has been quite an exciting and joyful experience of self-care and self-love for the last two weeks. And just like 24 hours ago, Tanya had pulled up for me a card from the Energy Oracle Cards by Sandra Anne Taylor, reflecting upon which, I should admit had created or triggered the space for me having this epiphany, moment of realization which I am also sharing with you. And if you are curious about the card, it’s “The Thinking Man”. (Both me and Tanya did agree upon that it did fit me as a great persona). And as I was reflecting with-in myself, in a mirror of my own thoughts, I found this learning and am sharing it with you all.
So yes, I am sharing with you that you too can connect with the source and check-out from a lot of unwanted drama and suffering. Most of the times, you will be able to do it yourself too in your own way. And a better way always, if you choose to, will be better to work with a professional. (Definitely, it saves a lot of time and effort to figure it out all by yourself). And you have the power to make the move up and forward from all that you are ready to let go.
